The Psychotherapy Clinic

Psychotherapy for Individuals, Couples and Families in Ixworth, Bury St Edmunds.

THe Psychotherapy Clinic

Welcome. I’m Joanna, a qualified and experienced Integrative Transpersonal Psychotherapist, Psychosexual Disorders Therapist, and Systemic & Family Practitioner.

I offer psychotherapy for children, adults, couples and families from my private practice in Ixworth, just outside Bury St Edmunds in West Suffolk.

My approach is integrative, drawing on a range of therapeutic models with a foundation in Humanistic, Psychosynthesis and Transpersonal Psychotherapy. This means I view each person not just through the lens of their difficulties, but as a whole being—with potential, purpose, and a deep inner wisdom. I hold space for both the psychological and the spiritual dimensions of human experience.

With extensive experience working in NHS Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and specialist training in trauma and complex trauma, my work is always trauma-informed, sensitive, and paced to your needs.

A Holistic and Trauma-Informed Approach.

1:1 Psychotherapy

Life can feel overwhelming, confusing, or disconnected at times. You may be facing anxiety, low mood, emotional distress, unresolved trauma, or life transitions that leave you questioning your identity and purpose.

In our work together, I offer a grounded, compassionate space where you can explore what’s happening beneath the surface. As a psychotherapist, I help you make meaning of your experiences—not just to alleviate pain, but to move toward deeper self-understanding and wholeness.

We may use a blend of talking therapy, somatic awareness, visualisation, mindfulness, dreamwork, or creative processes depending on what suits you.

The aim is always to support reconnection—with yourself, with your inner resources, and with what truly matters to you.

I believe therapy should be more than symptom relief—it should offer an opportunity to explore your inner world, unlock potential, and live a more meaningful, authentic life. This is at the heart of Humanistic, Systemic and Psychosynthesis: the journey from fragmentation toward integration.

Family, Couples and Relationship Therapy

Relationships are where we are most vulnerable—and where our wounds, patterns, and unmet needs often surface. I support couples in navigating conflict, communication issues, emotional disconnection, or sexual difficulties, in a safe, non-judgemental space.

Through both Systemic and Psychosexual Therapy lenses, we work together to understand the deeper dynamics at play—often rooted in past experiences—and move toward greater empathy, honesty, and intimacy.

I help individuals, couples and families:

Develop clearer, more respectful communication

Rebuild trust after betrayal or rupture

Reignite emotional and physical intimacy

Navigate life changes (parenting, loss, separation, etc.)

Understand how individual histories shape relational patterns

Couples & family therapy is not just about “fixing problems”—it’s about growth, reconnection, and learning to relate from a more conscious, loving place.

Support anxiety, depression and life’s difficulties.

Support with loss, grief and life transitions.

Support PTSD/CPTSD and trauma.

I offer an initial assessment to see if we are a right fit for each other.
